Last year, I hit my rock bottom; a personal destruction that rooted me so deeply into my depression and a sense of overwhelming failure. In one year, I had gone through so many emotional ups and downs that I couldn’t define a forward in my life. I felt so stuck and so lost that simply moving from one day to the next felt like too much. The most consuming emotion of it all was the guilt of feeling like I was wasting my time and wasting my life. I felt guilty that this was time (I considered) taken away from my brother; time that I was given and was now wasting. Each day felt more emotionally draining than the last, and the complete facade I was putting on was becoming more exhausting than anything. I think I realize now looking back, how truly depressed and unhealthy I was in that moment of my life.
I am sharing this very vulnerable part of my story with you because I want to continue sharing with you how Intentional Living saved my life. Sometime back in June of 2020, I finally woke up one day and had an epiphany. I could not survive another day of feeling this way, and one thought came to my mind; I had to, in all the ways I could, take back the control of my life. That same day, I sat down and made a very elementary list. 1. What can I control in my life. 2. What is out of my control in my life? I didn’t realize how many things in my life that I could be taking control of that I wasn’t. I decided to take back the control of everything I could and get back in the driver’s seat of my own life.
All of my adult life, I have known I want to be a blogger, a lifestyle coach, a motivational speaker, and an entrepreneur. I have always wanted to be someone who helps people create change in their lives, live out their dreams, and drive positivity in the world. Ever since I was a young girl, throughout my life, people have always told me I was meant for more. I started to believe those voices in my head again; so, I started doing a little research into how I could achieve these dreams. I discovered Intentional Living. Although so much of the literature I read lightly defined Intentional Living in different ways, Intentional living is any lifestyle based on an individual or group’s conscious attempts to live according to their values and beliefs. Meaning, everyone can define Intentional Living to fit within their own parameters of what they believe in.
When I decided that Intentional Living was not only going to be the consciousness for which I developed my lifestyle off of; but what I was going to design my brand and business based on, I began creating an Intentional Lifestyle to model. Creating an Intentional Life for myself meant completely redesigning my lifestyle; my habits, routines, where I dedicated my time, efforts, and, most importantly, chasing after my dreams. Through action, commitment, and confidence, I created incredible and meaningful change in my life over the last 10 months. I took control of my actions and my future and committed to myself and my dreams. And that is the lifestyle I write, preach, and confide in you with each blog.
Although I’ve written so much content on the subject of Intentional Living, I want to continue writing these milestone blogs for you. I will continue sharing the results and progress I’ve seen by creating an Intentional Life. Through this journey, due to both growth in myself and my knowledge from creating this brand, my definition of what it means to live intentionally has evolved. Living Intentionally means challenging yourself each day to reach new potential. When you practice an intentional lifestyle, you’re actively looking at ways to learn, grow, and better yourself every day. Intentional Living is a journey to live out your dreams, manifest success, and discover your self-worth. It is a journey that allows us to reach our full potential and discover what it means to live life, fully.
The benefits of living an intentional life are endless and bountiful. Since I began living intentionally, I have completely adjusted my mindset and approach to life. Of course, I still experience ups and downs and have my difficult days. But, those days and those moments are few and far between. Most days, I wake up feeling confident in my ability to make progress towards achieving my dreams. I approach my days with a much more optimistic and goal-oriented attitude than I ever have before. But most importantly, my motivation to work on myself, on my dreams, and towards success has never felt so strong.
I feel like I cannot put into words what these last 10 months have meant to me; the realizations I’ve come to, what I’ve learned about myself and the world around me. Without that incredibly difficult year, I wouldn’t be here. I cannot wait to share with you all the truly amazing new things I’ve been working on that are coming to fruition soon. But in the meantime, if you’re looking to begin your intentional living journey today, I encourage you to begin with the La.Rue 30-Day Intentional Living Challenge.
