Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads, grandads, step fathers, and everything in between; today is a day to celebrate you and everything you do for those you love. For my Mother’s Day post, I shared with you some of the ways to celebrate your mom anytime of the year, just to show her how much you appreciate her. In this post, I am going to talk about something things you can do with your dad to share some quality time any day of the year. My dad and I are very close, and although I moved 1,500 miles away for college, we still talk all the time and whenever I go home we always do things together that bring us closer. Shopping for men is hard, period. But shopping for dad’s, that’s even more difficult, so I thought I’d share with you some activities you can do with your dad on Father’s Day or any other day, just to tell them how much you love them.
Bowling: My dad loves to bowl and has been bowling on a few different leagues for years now, so every time I go home, him and I try to spend a few hours at one of our local allies bowling and bonding. It’s a fun and generally inexpensive activity that you cannot only do with dad, but your siblings, mom, and anyone else who wants to tag along to join in the fun. It’s a great activity to do during the afternoon, grabbing lunch with the family and spending a few hours laughing and creating memories. It’s also a perfect indoor activity if it happens to be raining out!
Mini Golfing: In front of the bowling ally my dad bowls at, they recently put up a very cool mini golf course. My dad and I have been a few times and it has been so much fun. I think this is another really great family activity that’s also not too expensive and doesn’t take up an entire day, so it can be in the list of activities on the day for dad. It’s a friendly competition that’s perfect for enjoying the sun and laughing your way through the course!
Movies: I often go see movies with my dad, especially when I was in high school, anytime a movie we both wanted to see would come out, we would generally go within the first few days of it’s premier. Although this isn’t the time to talk, it is the time to stuff your tummy with popcorn and enjoy some laughs, shocks, scares, or whatever the movie you’re seeing has to offer. I love going to see kids and action movies with my dad, you’re never to old to go see a Pixar or Disney film, and I think it’s always a good idea to go see an action movie and walk out feeling like you could be the next James Bond, dad’s love that stuff.
Brunch/Lunch/Dinner: Dad’s also love food, so do I. So taking your dad out for a one on one brunch or lunch on Father’s Day, or a family dinner, is always a good idea. I love spending time with my dad when I’m home, catching up about school or his work, it’s a time for us to have the chance to talk about my brother, who we both miss very much. It’s good for us to just sit down and talk about the hard stuff too, and sometimes it’s easier to do so when it’s just us and some good food.
These are just a few of a litany of things you can do with you dad on any day of the year! Don’t forget to tell your dad, your mom, and your entire family how much you love them.
With all my love to you and your dad’s,
