4 Must-Read Self-Help Books for Every Goal Getter

Must Read Self-Help Books

With all of the great advice, experiential anecdotes, and even sarcastic remarks about life that self-help books offer, there are a few that really stand out to me. If you go on Pinterest and type in “Must-Read Self-Help” books, you’re hit with a flurry of the same images repeated. So, for the purpose of this blog, I chose just four books that appealed to particular problems. I wanted to write a blog that offered a solution to the “goal-getter,” feeling a bit lost or misguided right now. These four must-read self-help books are for you, the dream chaser and divine creator of your own universe. Remember, we all need a little backup now and then. So, these are the 4 Must-Read Self-Help Books for Every Goal Getter with a Dream!

The Upper Limit Barrier

The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks: This book transformed my self-image and confidence in myself. The Big Leap is revolutionary in helping you to identify what Hendricks calls our “Upper Limit Problem,” and breaking through those walls to reach our greatest potentials. The Upper Limit Problem is a block or moment we face when we feel our success reaching new heights and feel it necessary to halt its progress. We do this because through some emotion we feel we don’t deserve success or haven’t earned it; thus, we manifest issues or problems in our lives to stop us from the moment of success. With every page, I was saying things to myself like “oh my gosh, that is so me,” or “that is absolutely true,” or “I totally do that,” and I was gaining knowledge in the ways I reach my Upper Limit Problem daily.

Hendricks defines the Upper Limit Problem, as I understand, to arise when we’re working within what he calls our “Zone of Genius.” Our Zone of Genius is the framework we work within to reach our greatest and full potential. So, if you’re someone struggling to allow yourself to move forward or you’re feeling scared of success, this is absolutely the book for you. If you feel you know where your Zone of Genius is but feel you’re manifesting mindset blocks to keep you from your true success, read The Big Leap.

The Bad-Ass Goal-Getter

Must Read Self-Help BooksYou Are A Badass by Jen Sincero: Dive into your mind and the root cause of your self-doubt and climb out at the end of this book with confidence and power! In this absolute must-read for entrepreneurs and goal-getters everywhere; Jen Sincero redefines what it means to have power and success as your own boss. In You Are A Badass, Sincero takes you on a journey of self-discovery and what it means to stop apologizing for your big dreams and take ownership of the success you’ve earned. True to its genre, this self-help book brought me to the realization that I can’t apologize and won’t apologize for who I am today and the success of my awesome life!

Sincero reminds us that a part of our journey is paving the way for growth in our lives. As long as we’re always actively looking for ways to grow and change, we’re becoming stronger people. So, for the reader struggling to define their role and doubting their ability to succeed, pick up You Are A Badass!

The Scientific Kick

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza: If you’re looking to bridge the divide between the rational side of yourself and create connection to the spiritual, this is absolutely the book you’re looking for. For years, I have had issues with connecting my spiritual beliefs to my rational and cognisant understandings. After reading Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, I was not only able to bridge that wide gap, but I was able to intertwine the two sides to create one resting belief: I am capable and worthy. Both my rational and spiritual brain appealed to that statement. Dr. Dispenza offers step-by-step tools to help you break down the reality you’ve manifested through outside voices and beliefs and empowers us to recreate a new reality at which we are the center.

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself is for the person in need of rekindling the spiritual connection with themselves. If you’re strictly a ‘live by the results’ person and only determine success by numbers, break the habit and read this amazing book. Whatever your spiritual belief may be, Dr. Joe Dispenza will guide you in creating a beautiful connection and help you break through the self-engineered glass ceiling that keeps you from your greatest success.

The Money Mastermind

You Are a Badass At Making Money by Jen Sincero: This hilariously fun and kind of satirical, collection of essays puts together an innovative way of becoming the master of your wealth. Money is at the root of almost all of our thoughts and all of our problems. When we break down the problems and reach the core, Sincero helps us uncover what is truly keeping us from our potential abundance. She breaks down our earning potential and our bank accounts as our only believed roadblocks to success. When we dismiss the potential roadblocks, success is inevitable. I was enamored with the idea that we shape our own reality around not just success, money. So when she approaches this idea that “you’re a badass at making money,” it becomes the reality in which you live in.

If money or financial abundance is the next step you’re looking to make, your new mantra needs to be “I’m a Badass at Making Money.” Sincero uses great comic relief to take the weight and stress most of us add on to earning a ton of money and shapes it into a reality. If you’re someone looking for great financial independence, this book will guide you there.

So, wherever you are in your journey, whatever step you need to take next, I promise one of these books will help you get there. These are four absolutely must-read self-help books for the person looking to reach their greatest potential. I encourage you to take your time reading these and really consume the material. Each book has an overwhelming message to offer that will help you re-evaluate your role and purpose in your own life and your dreams.

But when I started meditating more and letting go of the natural guilt I felt for not being busy all the time, I realized I was letting go of some of the creative blocks I was facing. 💡

Instead of forcing work or play, I just started listening to what felt right in whatever moment it was. Whether it’s Tuesday and 3PM, even though I thought I “should be working,” if I wanted to read instead, I just let myself enjoy what felt right in the moment.

I’m still learning to do this, continuing to let go of the guilt and embracing the freedom of my schedule and finding my own personal blend of balance. ✨

But each day, it’s feeling more and more natural to just go with the flow 🔥 (and as a Virgo, I assure you it’s harder than it sounds for me) 🙃
