In this post, I’m sharing with you a look back at my 2018 and sharing with you how I plan to make 2019 the best year yet! Enjoy!!
The month of January marks the beginnings of new adventures for different people all around the world. People make promises, resolutions and declarations on how they would like to change their life for the new year in the hope of somehow reaching a year in the near future where resolutions aren’t necessary anymore. People aren’t perfect, we make mistakes everyday and there is always room to improve, but the purpose of setting these goals is to one day reach a point where you no longer feel it is necessary to work on yourself in monumental days, rather it’s become day to day goals you’re trying to reach. This type of confidence comes when you reach a point where you are happy with all aspects of your life, your job, friendships, living, relationship, etc; all of these things make up the reasons we feel the way we feel everyday. Since I am not at that point in my life yet, of course I’m writing a list of resolutions this year that I hope to meet and learn to grow within during the year of 2019.
2018 was another year of ups and downs naturally, and I don’t expect that to change, but I what I hope for with each year is to grow from what has been both the good and the bad. So, with that being said, I’d like to share with you my 2019 list of resolutions. Now, this isn’t just any old plan list, I figured that I”m more likely to reach a goal if it’s written out with more detail. So, if you’re running a little late this year with writing your resolutions, here is a step by step guide on what to write down to gain the most success.
- Write out the goal; use specific vocabulary to enforce the action or goal in your mind when you’re later re-reading.
- Right below that, write down how completing the goal would satisfy any long term goals you’ve set for yourself
- Create a Pinterest board or an album on your phone of visual representations that will motivate you towards your reaching of the goal(s).
- Attach a realistic but challenging deadline for each of your goals.
- Lastly, write down how you will celebrate for reaching your goals, both individually and at the end when each has been checked off. Celebration for each accomplishments gives us the incentive to continue reaching the next goal, so when you reach a goal, attach a small reward with it to celebrate your own accomplishments. You can do this with friends or on your own, as long as it has been realized that you yourself have achieved your goals.
If you follow this check list, I strongly believe we all have a better chance at achieving our New Years Resolutions, and each year that we check off our lists, the list itself will get smaller and smaller until one day, we are completely content with who we are and how we live our lives. I am only going to share a few things off my list with you guys, but the way I formatted it includes two academic goals, two personal goals, two La.Rue goals, two working goals, and two extras for a total of ten. With the three I share below, I hope my list inspires you to set new and challenging goals for yourself for this New Year.
Graduate from Marymount Manhattan College with Honors and a 4.0
When achieved, I will have graduated with the confidence that I worked as hard as I could to achieve that position. I would have made very person in my family incredibly proud of me and that motivates me to do my best. – Graduation Date 17 May 2019 – Celebrate with friends and family who helped me reach this moment.
Dedicate my time and Love to this beautiful Website, to La.Rue
I spent countless hours and a lot of money creating my dram website, and the excuses that I offered myself last year when working on my thesis were valid, but now, now is time to buckle down and achieve this by working on a fulltime schedule. When achieved, when I reach the number of followers I want and the number of monthly visitors I want, I will have achieved a goal I have been working towards since I moved to New York and that will mean the world to me, with your help. – Deadline: End of Summer 2019 – Celebrate with my friend, family and followers, to all the people who pushed me, motivated me, and inspired me to get here.
Begin Working for a Publication Company that Inspires me Every day.
Despite its lack of specificity, this goal I’d like to remain open because there are so many different publication outlets, I’d love to work in. Publishing company’s like Penguin Random House or Simon & Schuster, or publicity company that owns Magazines like Conde Nast working for Vogueor Nat Geo, OR working in the journalism field working for The New Yorker or CNN. I would be thrilled to work at any of these places after graduations. So, when achieved, my hope is that I will wake up every day thrilled to go to work contributing to a billion-dollar industry that, in one way or another, feeds information to people. – Deadline, I’m goaling to myself to start a full-time job by July 1st, 2019. – Celebrate with friends and New Coworkers!!!!
